MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE
The 1880"s were boom years for "Marvellous
Melbourne", the most populous, advanced city in Australia. It
featured a building boom, expansion of manufacturing and
development of suburban railways and tramlines. It ended in a
disastrous financial crash at the beginning of the 1890's.
